Mulgrave Castle & Estate Wedding by North East Wedding Planners

Mulgrave Estate

In January, newly engaged couple John and Rosa reached out to North East Wedding Planners to orchestrate their dream wedding at Mulgrave Castle and Estate, the ancestral home of Lord and Lady Normanby of the Phipps family. With just over six months to prepare, lead planner Donna crafted a luxurious and opulent wedding experience that seamlessly blended modern elegance with the estate's historic charm.

Donna designed a series of bespoke, interconnecting marquees within the estate's historic walled garden and into the surrounding woodland. These custom structures, created by the outstanding team from Wills Marquees, provided a stunning backdrop for the couple's celebrations, Donna, ensured the temporary structures complemented the beautiful florals in full blooms, with a specialist lighting team creating the most amazing light showcase once the sky turned dark...

Renowned royal florist Shayne Connolly was commissioned to create breathtaking floral displays throughout the castle, estate, and marquees, adding an extra layer of sophistication to the venue. The best Yorkshire chefs worked with Donna and the couple to create a mouth-watering menu highlighting locally sourced produce.

The wedding celebrations began with an intimate legal ceremony in Whitby, with close family as witnesses, to follow a picnic in the forest. The weekend and main wedding celebrations started as an elegant pre-evening drinks reception as guests arrived from around the world. Saturday, wedding day pre-wedding drinks as guests arrived followed by a heartfelt celebrant-led ceremony in the first marquee located within the woodland. Guests then enjoyed a sumptuous canapé reception featuring exquisite culinary delights, leading into a fine dining experience prepared by world-class chefs and the famous Fusco family provided a delicious menu of fish and chip suppers for the guests...

As night fell, the estate was transformed with various live bands, and finally, two South African DJs flew in especially, Donna also brought her own DJ team to oversee the beats that went on until 5 am.

To ensure younger guests were entertained, a dedicated children's area featured 27 nannies, play areas, a mini football pitch, movie tents, and face painting stations.. and a healthy twist on burgers and chips.

Behind this grand affair was a meticulous orchestration involving over 100 suppliers, each selected for their expertise. The logistical planning was extensive, ensuring every detail was flawlessly executed, from first class train travel from London, to luxury accommodation on the estate for guests and for those wishing to immerse themselves fully in the celebrations and fresh air, Donna curated a glamping area with 25 luxury yurts, each adorned with plush rugs and stocked with indulgent goodie packs. Gourmet breakfasts were delivered to guests in their yurts the following morning.

The weekend concluded with a lavish brunch, allowing guests to reminisce about the unforgettable moments shared. While many details of this extraordinary celebration remain private, it is clear that John and Rosa's wedding set a new benchmark for luxury and modern elegance in high-end events.
